Effectiveness
The therapists at Psychotherapy Services have many years in direct practice experience. The ideal client to receive services is the one willing to effect change into their current situation. Often times clients have gone to other practitioners, but are yet to find the right fit and level of understanding they need. In this practice we take the approach of collaborating and starting "where the client is" in an effort to adequately help and not merely make the client feel better
Experience
We have expertise in many areas in behavioral health, particularly depressive disorders, anxiety, bipolar disorder, and posttraumatic stress. We accept different insurance plans, including Medi-Cal managed care plans and as part of our ethical standards and commitment to helping others We can offer pro-bono services.
Results
We are bilingual psychotherapists who have a deep understanding of cultural and social factors affecting the client. We have expertise in many evidence-based therapy methods including, Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy and Acceptance & Commitment methods.

Gabriel has experience in medical social work, school counseling, case management, cultural-sensitive counseling, and psychological testing.
Gabriel is a Lecturer at SDSU with experience in criminology and research.

Janie is a licensed psychotherapist with expertise in PTSD, Anxiety, Bipolar Disorder, and Depression.
Janie is a cognitive-behavioral therapist with extensive knowledge and skill in helping her patients deal with trauma and relationship issues.
Janie is culturally competent and able to assist patients to better manage and resolve their problems. Janie is a certified Imagery Re-scripting and Reprocessing Therapy (IIRT) provider and Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT) certified capable of assisting our Veterans and victims of traumatic experiences.

Paola Hernandez, MSW
Paola is an associate clinical social worker providing services to children, adolescents, adults, and couples. She utilizes an eclectic approach to treatment using a variety of skills and techniques from evidenced-based practices and a trauma-informed approach. She believes client motivation and collaboration are necessary for success in treatment. She has experience in school counseling, case management, domestic violence, issues surrounding sexual violence, LGBTQ+ issues, feminist therapy, and cultural sensitivity. Paola is also a lecturer at SDSU-IV for undergraduate Social Work and Women Studies courses with experience in research with families, farm worker related-stress, and Latinx sexual minority group issues.
